Fairfield County Man Nabbed For Racially-Motivated Road Rage Incident, Police Say

A Fairfield County man has been charged in connection with a road rage incident in which he allegedly yelled racial epithets at the victim.

Erik Krobetzky, age 50, of Wilton, turned himself in to police on a warrant on Friday, Dec. 9 for the incident which took place on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Wilton.

According to Lt. Gregg Phillipson of the Wilton Police, during the incident, Krobetzky cut off another motorist on Route 7 and then began to drive slowly in front of the victim, braking hard intermittently and swerving in front of them. 

Krobetzky then displayed his middle finger at the victim and screamed a racial epithet out his window at the victim, which the victim clearly heard, Phillipson said.

The victim was able to provide the vehicle license plate number to the investigating officer.

After turning himself in, Krobetzky was charged with:

  • Reckless driving
  • Breach of peace
  • Intimidation based on bigotry or bias

Krobetzky's bond was set at $25,000. He is set to appear at the Stamford Superior Court on Monday, Dec. 19.
